Doherty Cup Champions 2026
5/06/2026 2:10 PM

Millburn Primary School football team were crowned Doherty Cup champions following a 4-0 victory over a resilient Harpur’s Hill side. The scoreline, however, does not tell the full story of a contest that began with great pressure from Millburn but equally heroic defending from their opponents.

A defiant Harpur’s Hill defence denied the relentless Millburn attack on countless occasions in the opening 15 minutes. Some great defensive work, combined with a string of excellent saves from the Harpur’s Hill goalkeeper, kept the game level despite Millburn’s dominance. The breakthrough eventually came courtesy of Cahoon, who produced a moment of sheer quality, cutting in from the wing and curling a stunning effort into the top corner of the net.
With the wind at their backs, Millburn continued to press forward. Warke battled tirelessly up front, causing constant problems for the opposition defence. The pressure paid off once again when Johnston reacted quickest to a loose ball on the edge of the box, unleashing a superb strike that flew into the top corner to double Millburn’s advantage.

Half time: Millburn PS 2-0 Harpur’s Hill PS

As the second half began, Harpur’s Hill changed shape and began to shift the momentum of the game. However, Millburn’s defence stood firm. Boreland, Martin and Goligher were outstanding at the back, clearing their lines with purpose and composure, while Newman in goals dealt confidently with everything that came his way.

Just as Harpur’s Hill threatened to build sustained pressure, Millburn produced a decisive moment. McClean found the crucial third goal in spectacular fashion, striking an incredible long-range effort from near the halfway line that soared into the net, sparking wild celebrations in the Millburn Railway End. It was a goal worthy of the occasion.

Millburn continued to show their depth and energy, with Dunlop introduced to inject further pace into the attack. Black helped solidify the defence during the closing stages, while Davidson and Glenn worked tirelessly up and down the wide areas, contributing at both ends of the pitch.

The final goal came following another well worked Millburn move. McCorriston delivered an excellent cross into the box, and McClean was on hand once again to help the ball over the line and secure his second of the game - and Millburn’s fourth - capping off a memorable performance.

Full Time: Millburn PS 4 - 0 Harpur’s Hill PS

A superb team performance from start to finish, showing quality, determination and resilience against a very well organised Harpur’s Hill side. Every player played their part in what was a truly special night for the Millburn community.

Thank you to all who came out in such fantastic numbers to support the team - your encouragement made a huge difference.

Croskery Cup Final 2026
21/05/2026 1:51 PM

We couldn’t be prouder of our nine pupils who reached the finals of the Croskery Cup today. Each one delivered an engaging, informative talk on an environmental issue of their choice and did so with real courage in front of an audience of more than 120 peers and staff. Their ICT skills, presentation techniques and depth of knowledge were outstanding.

A special congratulations to Emily, whose poise, preparation and presence shone through as she was named overall winner.
